When it comes to cleaning the kitchen, the oven is one of the most difficult appliances.
Here are three pro hacks to help you get through your next oven-cleaning session.
“Remember, some ovens have an inbuilt self-cleaning feature. If your oven has the feature, turn on self-cleaning for a better and easier cleaning process.”
It uses about 8kW of energy. It’s a smoky process, so make sure you keep your windows and doors open and keep the air circulating.
Clean your oven glass
- Take a long, thin plastic or metal rod — like a straightened hanger — and attach a piece of clean cloth or tissue to one end.
- Then dab the cloth with cleaning liquid and insert that end through the slot between the door and the glass.
- Wipe away dust and grime.
- It’s an easy and effective method and lets you monitor your baking process through the glass.
Remove unpleasant odors
- If you bake quite often, you would know the problems of unpleasant odors all too well.
- Add a few drops of vanilla extract in a baking dish, put it in, and turn on your oven.
- Let the scent of fresh vanilla fill your kitchen and you’ll get rid of all unpleasant smells in your oven.
Remove grease and dirt
- Combine baking soda, white vinegar, and liquid soap with water to form a paint-like paste.
- Remove all the racks and trays from your oven and, with a brush, coat the entire interior of your oven with the paste.
- Close the oven and let it sit overnight.
- In the morning, use a sponge and water to wipe away all the grease and you’ll have a sparkling oven.
